what if more than one input arrives at the dendrites at the same time? what happens? how does it choose which to do first? Or does it choose one and ignore the other? What happens if too many signals arrive in succession faster than the action potentials can be generated? Can the cell body maintain a queue to process them as the recovery time allows?

Dear Admissions Committee, My name is Mai Mohamed Salah, and from a young age, I have dreamt of studying at a prestigious university like Harvard. Despite growing up in an environment with limited opportunities and significant financial challenges, I have always strived to achieve my dreams through hard work and determination. My educational journey began at Al-Amarat 2 Girls School, a government school, and later I transferred to Abdoon Hamad School for Talent and Excellence under the auspices of the National Authority for Gifted Education, after my teachers noticed my academic excellence. I secured my place there after passing six IQ tests. Currently, I am studying at Tigani El Mahi High School for Talent and Excellence. However, due to the war in Sudan, I was forced to relocate to Turkey after enduring significant hardships. I am very grateful to God for my survival. Upon arriving in Turkey, I felt immense disappointment and hopelessness, fearing that my dreams had become unattainable. I was no longer studying in schools for gifted students and had not completed my secondary education. Amidst these challenging circumstances, I received the heartbreaking news of the deaths of my grandfather, grandmother, and two close friends. Despite these overwhelming challenges, I decided to persevere. I applied to Turkish schools, expecting to enter the 11th grade, but my certificate was evaluated, and I was placed directly into the 12th grade. Facing the daunting task of preparing for the baccalaureate exams with limited knowledge of the Turkish language, I studied intensively for more than 16 hours a day. Despite these difficulties, by God's grace, I managed to obtain the Turkish baccalaureate certificate with a score of 69.1813%, after attending classes for only two weeks. This is an achievement I am extremely proud of, given the circumstances. Throughout my life, I have been an avid reader, having read over 50 books in fields such as psychology, management, and physics. My love for reading led me to participate in the National Reading Challenge, where I won fourth place in Sudan. I have conducted numerous research projects, including studies on the impact of the ozone hole on the environment and theories about the Bermuda Triangle. Some of my notable research papers include "Artificial Kidney," "The Development of Singapore," "Black Hole," and "Electronic Platforms and Blood Types.".. I am passionate about using my skills to contribute to Sudan's development. I have a vision and plan to boost the national economy using a single resource. My technical skills include basic programming in HTML and Scratch, and designing robots using VEX IQ. Additionally, I have participated in various art competitions, including the National Art Competition on Independence Day at the Sudan National Museum and international competitions in Japan. I have conducted several seminars on modern communication, optical fibers, density, chromatic mass, and smart homes. I have also obtained several certificates, including: - A certificate from the Maaarif Platform for studying a course about the IELTS test. - A certificate for completing an online course in Basics of E-Services. - A certificate in Basics of Digital Marketing. - A certificate for a therapeutic nutrition course offered by the AMY team with Dr. Hana Mahmoud. - A certificate entitled "Introduction to Food Science" from EIT Food and Queen's University Belfast. - A certificate from Aoun in Human Resource Management Concepts by Gregg Learning. - A certificate in "Food and Nutrition: The Truth Behind Food Headlines" from EIT Food and the University of Reading. - An online certificate in Corporate Finance (MBA Class) with Aswath Damodaran. - A certificate in Leadership and Team Effectiveness by IIT Roorkee. I am an active member of several organizations, such as the Future Youth Organization and Sumo Charity Organization. I have participated in numerous seminars on modern communication technologies like the metaverse, optical fibers, density and chromatic mass, and smart homes. I have received several certificates, including in basics of digital marketing, therapeutic nutrition, effective preparation for the IELTS exam, basics of e-services, introduction to food science from EIT Food and Queen's University Belfast, human resource management concepts by Gregg Learning, and first aid. Additionally, I am a beginner trainee in karate and taekwondo. My hobbies include drawing, writing poetry, and reading. My future goals include working on global health solutions to address pressing health issues such as infectious diseases and malnutrition. I aim to use my medical education to make a positive impact on public health in impoverished and underserved communities. I also aspire to participate in advanced medical research to develop new treatments and innovative medical technologies. I seek to collaborate with international organizations to improve healthcare and expand access to biomedical services and health technologies. This is my educational journey, and having given my all, I now rely on God's assistance and hope to receive support from someone who can help me achieve my goal. I sincerely hope to obtain this scholarship and appeal to your humanitarian side in this request. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Mai Mohamed Salah

I still don't understand how the Na+/K+ pump restore the membrane potential by expelling Na+ and receiving 2 K+. The overall net potential therefore become 2 - 3 = -1 which will cause further reduced membrane potential after hyperpolarization. Can someone explain?

The Na+/K+ ATPase isn't the only mechanism that is responsible for the membrane potential. It usually only accounts for 5-10 mV of the resting potential. The K+ and Na+ protein channels contribute more to the magnitude of the generation of the potential.

for anyone still struggling like I was, this is how i was able to kinda understand it; the purpose of the action potential is to allow neurotransmitters to release at the axon terminal/synapse. the wave of electrical charge travels all the way down and once it gets to where the neurotransmitter is stored in the vesicles near the synapse several things can happen but usually, there is a few more ion exchanges that end up with the vesicle membrane fusing with the cell membrane so that the neurotransmitter is floating around the OUTSIDE of the neuron. then the neurotransmitter can bind to the postsynaptic cell, open ligand-gated ion channels and create another action potential. and sometimes the neurotransmitter can bind to multiple cells my teacher doesn't care if we understand how it works, he just wants us to be able to parrot the steps of the sodium and potassium channels and the depolarization hyperpolarization and repolarization, and it was driving me crazy not knowing how this actually can help cells communicate with each other, so i hope this helps. i don't have full understanding yet or anything near it but i'm getting the vibe that information, thoughts, memories etc is more carried in the frequency, organization and order of which cells the nerve impulses go to

Why does he not list that his degree is in extension studies--or is in any way affiliated with HES on his LinkedIn? It's great that you're going back to get an education, but let's not conflate HES with GSAS, HBS, HLS, etc. It's the difference between a 100% acceptance rate with the rigor of Purdue global and a graduate degree where you interact with other people who went through the same selective process.

Come on dude, your requirement is very high. A degree from Harvard, especially whatever bachelor or master, is none of the business for 99.99% people. You can’t even get into Harvard with in serveral generations if you are not from the so-called “elite family”. HES, of course it’s not the best choice, but at least give so many people the chance to Harvard, until now the bees university in the world. Well, it’s not perfect, but it’s a ticket. Maybe your son do have chance enroll the degree you what expect in the future.

So... An action potential happens when the stimulus is big enough for the membrane potential to reach -55. When that happens, (I don't understand why but) the cell says fuck it and depolarises completely, even overshooting and becoming positive. Then it bounces back, overshooting again, dropping below -70, but not by much so it returns to -70 normally.
